How to Find and Add Feeds

How to Find MP3 Feeds

Music Buddy comes prepared with a number of default (recommended) feeds.  There is a short, medium, or large list that can be added.  From the Music Buddy main window, select the "Add Defaults >" button to bring up a menu of options.

Otherwise, you can find new feeds by searching Google with phrases such as:
Additionally, many music blogs contain lists with links to other recommended music blogs.  For example, Stereogum contains a large list of additional music blogs to check out (see "The Cool Kids" box).

How to Add Feeds

Music Buddy feeds point to RSS or Atom feed addresses that the program can check to get updated information on MP3s to download.  Most (but not all) music blogs will contain a link to an RSS/Atom feed for the blog.

On the blog's website, look for icons or text such as the following:
  • RSS Feed:
  • Atom Feed:
Typically, these icons will provide a link to the blog's feed location.  Right-click on the feed icon and select "Copy Shortcut" in Internet Explorer.  From the Music Buddy main window, select the "Add Feed" button.  Paste the feed location into the "Feed URL" text box.  Feed locations usually look something like this: "http://feeds.feedburner.com/scissorkickblog".

Next, you can try to get the feed name automatically using the "Get From Feed" button, or you can type in a name for the feed yourself.  Feed names are used in many different ways by Music Buddy so make sure the name is meaningful.

Finally, you can get any MP3s currently posted to the blog feed by clicking the feed's refresh icon in the main window (), or by clicking the "Refresh All" button.
